Dyeable (RFD) Velvet Fabric Manufacturer

Ready-for-dyeing (RFD) cotton & viscose velvet greige — a blank canvas for your custom colours and prints.

Dyeable / RFD Velvet velvet fabric by Shailesh Velvet (Kedarnath)

Dyeable velvet RFD fabric is undyed, ready-for-dyeing greige velvet that buyers colour themselves. Shailesh Velvet Industries, a velvet maker of close to 40 years, produces it under the Kedarnath Velvet brand in two bases: RFD cotton velvet and RFD viscose velvet, both around 54-58 inches wide. It is bought by dyeing units, printing houses and private-label brands that run their own custom-colour programmes.

What RFD means

RFD stands for 'Ready For Dyeing'. The velvet is supplied greige and undyed so your dye-house or printer can apply exact shades and prints in-house, controlling colour, batch and season. It is scoured and prepared to take dye evenly across the pile, which reduces patchiness and shade variation.

Bases and ordering

RFD cotton velvet dyes to a matte finish (about 250-320 gsm); RFD viscose velvet dyes and prints to a high sheen (about 180-240 gsm). You control the final custom-dyed velvet fabric, including azo-free processing, in your own dye-house. Minimum orders are negotiable, with samples before bulk.

Dyeable / RFD Velvet — frequently asked questions

What does RFD velvet mean?

RFD means 'Ready For Dyeing'. The velvet is supplied undyed so your dye-house or printer can colour it in-house, giving exact custom shades and full batch control instead of fixed stock colours.

Do you offer both cotton and viscose RFD?

Yes. RFD cotton velvet dyes to a matte finish; RFD viscose velvet takes colour and print with a high sheen. Choose the base that suits your programme before dyeing.

What is the MOQ and can I dye it myself?

Yes, you dye it yourself. It is supplied blank and prepared for even uptake, so you apply your own colours, prints and finishing. Minimum orders are negotiable, with samples first.

Do you export RFD velvet?

Yes. We are GST-registered and hold an IEC, and supply dye-houses and brands overseas as well as across India, from our base near Mumbai. Export documentation is arranged on request.
